Lottie Merriman autograph album, 1860-1861.

An autograph album kept by Lottie Merriman while attending Sarah Porter's school in Farmington, Connecticut. The album mostly contains the signatures of her friends, though there are also lists of classmates toward the back of the volume. There are also a few stories and longer anecdotes of school days that were written by Lottie and her friends. Tucked into the front cover are bills and receipts sent to Lottie's father, Charles Merriman, for Maggie Merriman's education at the same school a few years later. The Merrimans lived in Waterbury, Connecticut. Maggie was Lottie's younger sister. The bills and receipts are all signed by Sarah Porter. The price for a term was $200. Other expenses included music lessons, use of the piano, stationary, riding lessons, and French conversation.
